Terms of Service
Last updated 12 June 2026
1. Acceptance of these terms
By creating an account or using pleasecheckon.com ("Please Check On", "we", "us", "the service") you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy and Safety Boundaries, which form part of these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use Please Check On. By signing up you confirm that you meet this requirement. Helpers additionally confirm that they have the right to work in the UK.
3. What Please Check On is β and isn't
Please Check On is a marketplace that connects families with local helpers who make friendly, non-medical check-in visits to elderly or vulnerable people. We are not a care agency, a healthcare provider, an employer of helpers, or an emergency service. Helpers are independent individuals; any visit arranged through the platform is an agreement between the family and the helper, facilitated by us.
Please Check On is not an emergency or medical service.
If someone may be in urgent danger, call 999. Do not use this platform to arrange urgent welfare checks where there is reason to believe a person is at immediate risk.
4. Safety boundaries are binding
Our Safety Boundaries are a condition of using the service, not a suggestion. In particular, helpers must never administer medication, provide personal care, lift or transfer a person, or provide any form of medical treatment or assessment β and families must not request these things. Breaching the safety boundaries may result in immediate account termination.
5. Helper verification β what we do and don't check
We review helper profiles before they become visible, and helpers confirm their right to work and any certifications they claim. Identity and bank-account verification for payments is carried out by Stripe. We do not currently carry out criminal-record (DBS) checks. Families remain responsible for deciding whether a helper is suitable, and we encourage meeting or speaking with a helper before a first visit. We will tell you honestly what has and hasn't been verified rather than implying guarantees we can't stand behind.
6. Payments
- All payments must go through the platform. When a family accepts a helper's application, the family pays the agreed price via Stripe before the visit takes place.
- We charge a platform fee (currently 10% of the visit price), which is deducted from the amount paid before the helper's payout. The minimum visit price is Β£5.
- The helper is paid out after the visit is completed and a visit update has been submitted.
- Off-platform payment is not permitted. Arranging or soliciting payment outside the platform for visits found through Please Check On deprives the platform of its fee and removes the protections (records, visit updates, dispute help) that payments through the platform provide. Doing so may result in account termination.
- Card details are collected directly by Stripe and never touch our servers. Stripe's own terms apply to payment processing.
- If a visit doesn't happen, contact us and we will arrange a refund. Where a payment fails, the booking is not confirmed and can be retried.
7. Information about the person being visited
Families are responsible for ensuring they are entitled to share information about the person to be visited, and should share only what a helper genuinely needs to carry out the visit safely. Helpers must treat all information about recipients and families as confidential, use it only for the purpose of the visit, and never retain or share it off-platform.
8. Safeguarding
Helpers must report any concern about a recipient's welfare in their visit update so the family is informed. If we believe someone is at risk, we may share relevant information with appropriate authorities, as described in our Privacy Policy.
9. Your account and conduct
- Provide accurate, current and complete information about yourself, and keep it up to date.
- Keep your account credentials secure. You are responsible for activity under your account.
- Behave respectfully in all communications on the platform.
- Do not create fake accounts, impersonate others, or misrepresent your identity, experience or qualifications.
- Do not use the service for any illegal purpose, to harass others, or to contact users off-platform without their permission.
- Do not attempt to bypass security or rate-limiting controls, or scrape content from the platform.
10. Your content
You retain ownership of the content you upload (profile information, photos, videos, messages, visit updates). By uploading it, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, display and transmit that content for the purpose of operating the service. We don't pre-screen content but reserve the right to remove content that breaches these terms.
11. Termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms β especially the safety boundaries β or that we believe pose a risk to other users. Abuse of recipients, families, helpers or our staff results in immediate termination. You may stop using the service, or ask us to delete your account, at any time.
12. Disclaimer of warranties
The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any helper or visit will meet your needs or expectations.
13. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. Subject to that, and to the fullest extent permitted by law: we are not liable for the acts or omissions of helpers or families, who are independent of us; we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or loss of profits or data; and our total liability for direct damages is limited to the greater of (a) the fees you have paid us in the past 12 months and (b) Β£100.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
15. Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, notify you by email. Continued use of the service after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
